Welcome!
We are so glad you are here at the home of the oldest theater for young people in the State of Maryland. Children's Theater Association was established in 1943 because our founder, Isabel "Dearie" Burger felt "play acting was a child's rehearsal for life" and to this day we believe it is an excellent way to educate and excite young minds. Our mission is to teach and perform theater for young people with the highest standard of art and education. We travel throughout the school year to bring live theater to schools and other places where children gather. Our plays are performed by adult professional actors for audiences in elementary and middle school. We have traveled as far as Maine to the north and the Carolinas to the south.
